Oil-Accidents and eco Environment
The Mediterranean, according to statistics IMO, the percentage of pollution caused by oil spills from ships is 10%. This is obviously statistics on accidental spills that do not take account of illegal operations, such as the washing of tanks. An estimate of the Mediterranean Petroleum receive each year about 1 million tons of oil from various sources (intentional and accidental spills, indigenous resources contributed by the rivers, etc.).. Analyzing the causes of these accidents, you can see that for 64% of these are attributable to human error, 16% to 10% mechanical failure and structural problems of the ship, while the remaining 10% is attributable to causes certain. The majority of accidents attributable to human error and to undetermined causes may well be ascribed to problems related to old boats with crews who walk in unprepared and improvised many of the Mediterranean.
